13.1 Here we go!

Ahh! Getting back on the half-marathon train. I ran one for the first time last June and it was definitely a challenge I had been holding myself back from for a really long time. Deciding I was the only one standing in my own way, I went for it! It was such a good feeling (and a great way to stay motivated to run!) to finish knowing that I had thought at one time that it was something I wouldn't be able to do.

"I am capable of more than I know, and perhaps, if I am able to see it, then for the rest of my life, I will be unable to settle for less."-Kurt Hahn

So.. going to go for it again! I found an awesome training plan on Self.com from their July 2013 issue that I'm going to adapt for my own training.

I'll post my training each week to stay motivated and keep on running!

Green and White Bathroom

So I just moved into a new place and have been on decorating overdrive! (aka going Pinterest crazy.) I finished my new bathroom the other day, and I'm kind of obsessed! The finished product looks like this:

I was on a budget and looking for inexpensive ways to have a cute space! I started with this shower curtain from Target to get a feel for the color scheme I wanted to go with. I finished it off with some wood shower hooks. (Couldn't find online, but Target stores carry them.)

I definitely wanted to do something special with that space above the towel rack. I found some wall shelves from Ikea and bought a set of 3! (only $6.99 each) The baskets are from Ikea, also.  They come in a set of 3, so they matched up perfectly with the shelves. I just added a faux-calla lilly and a frame that I had at home, and ended up with this clean look. I love it!

Next, I was going to need some storage. I found some wall-mounted buckets in the kitchen storage section of Ikea. The buckets on hooks definitely worked for bathroom storage, too! A perfect place to keep hand towels or other small items that you need to store in a convenient place.

Ok, everyone knows that no decorating transformation is complete without a DIY project. Inspired by this post from the biggest much, I created my own mason jar soap pump! I'm so happy with the finished product:

So I'm super happy with how this decorating project turned out and I'm so glad to have created another beautiful corner in my home! Going to take a break from home decoration and enjoy some sunshine. (Ah, the benefits of being a teacher during the summer months!) Hoping you have a beautiful day and got some inspiring ideas! :)
